KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

Garland Ranch Falls is a seasonal waterfall, so it's best to visit in the spring or after a heavy rainfall. To access the falls, park along Carmel River Road and follow the signs to the Visitor Center. There is no parking or entrance fee. At the Visitor Center, you can pick up a map and learn about the California native trees in the Native Plant Garden. After that, follow the Lupin Loop to the Waterfall Trail. Garland Ranch is one of the few parks that allows dogs to it can be quite crowded. The Waterfall Trail is a short trek uphill along a well manicured path, ultimately crossing a footbridge before reaching the falls. During our visit in March or 2023, the waterfall trickled over the 70 foot sandstone cliff and a bubbling stream flowed into the nearby Carmel River. The sounds of water played as a backdrop the entire 1.6 mile hike. I recommend this seasonal falls to locals with children and animal lovers. Along the trail we spotted blue birds as well a California brush rabbit. However, I must warn you to stay on the trail, poison oak was ever present.
