KNOW BEFORE YOU GO:

Highbridge Falls AKA "Andrew Molera Falls"  is one of Big Sur' secret waterfalls. You're going to want to do your homework before you attempt to find this one. You can put "Highbridge Falls" into your GPS and see that it is located just past Andrew Molera State State Park on the Big Sur side of Highway 1. There are about three pull-out spots just a minute or so south of the State Park, and you'll know you are at the right one when you see the unmarked gate pictured below. Right off the road, you can immediately hear and see the Lower Falls, photographed above. But to get to the Upper Falls, you're in for an adventure. If you follow the path directly it will lead up hill to a lovely picnic area with two benches. When you turn around to walk back down the hill, take your first left towards the sound of the Upper Falls. I visited Highbridge Falls in February of 2023, just after some major storms, so many redwood trees were down and majorly obscured the path. To see Upper Falls, I had to do a bit of scrambling and straight climbing over redwoods the size of cars. I kept following the sounds of the falls and eventually walked along a fallen tree like a bridge towards the Upper Falls (second to last picture below). To return to the trail, I used careful footing and followed the sound of the ocean and cars back to the road. To get to Upper Falls, I did have to go a bit off-trail, and would not recommend it. Plus, I'm pretty sure I tramped on some poison oak. The final picture is how happy I was to find the trail.
